| I was born and raised in the Bay Area where culture, community, and survival came hand and hand. I have always had a dream of owning my own business and I embraced that dream to make a difference. God Almighty who resides and rides inside of me, has allowed me to put my self in a better position and at the same time, to help thoses who help themselves. My father has often taught me never to be a person to say, "what you are going to get, be a individual that has it - then speak on it" . My mothers nurturing in my time life is her unconditional love and her raising me to speak on what I feel is right or wrong. Other timely events would soon take place in my life: The Black Panther movement, The Bay View Hunters Point Riot, Festival at the Lake, The Gavin, and still to this day Black Expo, college step shows, and Juneteenth. Fashion and culture played a vital roll with the above timely events: black,red, and green dashikis, locks, corn rolls, Afros, bald heads with the fu man chu, platform shoes, bell bottoms, hot pants, full body suits, blue jeans-blue jeans, jogging suits, shell toe tennis shoes, and fatt laces, etc. These events, cultural, and fashion is the foundation for much of todays clothing. Even with the tragic downside of events that was happening to me, in my community, the banks, the grocery stores, hospitals, churches, other cities, and nation wide. I'm seeing males, females, old, and young at the DEAD end of a path of destruction, but God willing change they can change there life around for the BETTER . As I walked down this same path of trials and tribulations it would not overcome my heart willingness for "preparation and elevation" this is the milestone for 40 Y.B.D.M.. This clothing line is not just for African American, but this is the vision it took to establish this company and made me the Man I am today. I am Who I am. 40 Young Black Destine Men. |
